KICK-OFF MEETING

The kick-off meeting of the ULISSE project “Understanding, Learning and Improving Soft Skills for Employability” took place at the University of Pisa on 1st and 2nd October2018. The partners discussed in a very collaborative way about the different steps to take. Specifically the ULISSE project includes a research activity and a training phase. The research activity aims at shedding light on the definition of “soft skills” in order to determine the boundaries of what is considered “soft” and what is not, clarifying the true nature of the different skills. The research will be carried out analyzing the job vacancies available at the Career Services of the partner Universities, as well as scientific papers and databases through text mining techniques. The Intellectual Output expected is a Lexicon to be adopted in the following phases of the project. The second project phase aims at designing specific training activities that will help students enhance their employability.

ULISSE was one of the 16 projects selected at national level out of 64 applications with a score of 91.5 / 100. The University of Pisa is the project coordinator of a partnership that includes the Miguel Hernandez University of Elche (Spain), the Polytechnic University of Porto (Portugal), the Latvijas University (Latvia), and the University spin-off company Errequadro. The project budget is € 384,639.
